Activities

In every classroom there is a child who feels invisible or overlooked. Check out this activity based on the book "The Invisible Boy."

Simple activities can build acceptance, celebrate diversity, and encourage connection. I especially like the hand-trace project here. 

After the kids read "The Color of Us," have them create self portraits as described here. If you're looking for something less messy, have each describe their skin color as a food i.e. my skin is cinnamon, coconut, peach, caramel, chocolate, cheerios, etc. and make a delicious chart for the class.
